Expedition Summary Students embark on a four day backcountry ski trip in our majestic Colorado backyard. The mission is to create short films and also learn lifesaving avalanche skills and risk awareness in the wild. This might be our most physically challenging film school with cold nights and deep snow! Behind the Scenes at Colorado Backcountry '09 Go behind the scenes with students and instructors

Update: Fireside chats at Janet's cabin, moonlit snowcamping, and gourmet dinners (like the savory Italian whipped up by Elias) followed playful days in the snow. Powder turns were a highlight, and newcomers to the backcountry found that there's nothing like getting away from lift lines and trampled resort terrain. Training with avalanche beacons meant that students went home with all the skills necessary for future forays beyond the ropes, both film and safety related. No small amount of sweat made this round of student films especially rewarding.
