Serac Adventure Film School students completed a four-day backcountry ski trip combined with an avalanche safety course. While creating their own adventure films deep in the Rocky Mountains, each student gained life-saving avalanche skills including backcountry skiing instruction and risk awareness in the wilderness. Students spent one night snow camping at high-elevation and one night in a rustic backcountry cabin as part of the 10th Mountain Division Hut circuit.
At the end of the trip, students traveled to beautiful Boulder, Colorado for three days of intensive editing with Final Cut Pro. The amazing experience culminated with a film festival screening of all student films.
Renowned director Michael Brown was on hand for the entire expedition. Though only 41 years old, Michael's experience gives him unique qualifications. His films have garnered more than 40 film festival awards, he is the recipient of three national Emmy Awards, and he has been a member of over 50 expeditions on all seven continents including four summits of Mount Everest.
Avalanche instruction provided by Tim Brown, an AMGA Certified Rock & Alpine Guide with over ten years of professional guiding experience.
Student Testimonials:
"Whether you're already in the business or just getting started, I think the Serac Adventure Film School is one of the best investments you can make in your career as a filmmaker.
Filmmaking is more than just capturing pretty pictures and witty dialogue, it's a complicated business. There are plenty of courses out there that will teach you all about that fancy camera you just bought and how to navigate the latest editing software. I know, I've slept through most of them. But what Serac delivers is unmatched by any other program available. You learn what it actually takes to deliver a film from concept to finished product."
