Teva Mountain Games

Expedition Summary

June is one of the most beautiful months of the year in Colorado for its green fauna, raging rivers and moderate Rocky Mountain temperatures; it also signals our return to the Teva Mountain Games in Vail. This is our first go as the Outside Adventure Film School (although our philosophy hasn't changed a bit), and we enjoy working with a full capacity course.

Update: We kicked off the 2010 film school in Vail with a feast of pizza and a playful round of pitching. Students got two minutes to sell their film concepts before earning their "funding;" i.e. media credentials and a fresh pair of Teva kicks. Day one of the games took us to the Eagle River, home to one of the world's wildest whitewater kayak courses. Students captured more than a few "pitons" (nose-dives) and eskimo rolls while utilizing their press passes to get close to the action. In other water sports, dock dogs was a favorite as usual and fly-fishing was celebrated for both its simple pleasures and biological complexity. The World Cup Bouldering Finals brought chills to everyone in attendance, and several students filmed slopestyle bikers soaring into the thin Rocky Mountain air and landing smoothly - most of the time.

Student Testimonial:
"Outside Adventure Film School is certainly on to something. With expeditions across the globe, students can combine the thrill of travel with the personal accomplishment of a short film. It would not surprise me to see students go on to do great things from this school. Michael Brown and the instructors are helpful and experienced. Prepare for an adventure you will never forget."
