There's no better time to be in Colorado. By early June, Vail has transitioned from powdery white to spring green, and action sports of a different sort invade the valley. Whitewater kayaking, slopestyle biking, and World Cup Bouldering are among the adrenaline-filled events to take place at the Teva Mountain Games, the country's largest celebration of mountain sports.
Students are given exclusive press passes to all events and competitions during the games. We take full advantage of the prime real estate to capture some of the world's most extreme athletes at the height of their impassioned pursuits. Our instructors provide instruction on camera techniques and storytelling, but film topics are decided entirely by the students themselves. There is no shortage of material to choose from.
After the last competition has played out, students edit their footage at the luxurious Antlers at Vail Hotel, equipped with the latest Apple computers and editing software. The school culminates with a student film festival where everyone gets to show off their short films. Students also receive a fresh pair of Teva shoes.
